Market in the Middle began in 2006 as the cornerstone of the rebirth of the downtown Asbury Park business district. Shortly after it opened its doors, other businesses began to see the vision of the future where Asbury Park returned to its former glory as a thriving commercial hub and destination for vacationers and locals alike.
In order to do this, Market in the Middle had to emerge as something more than just another restaurant on the shore. It had to be different, but more importantly it needed to provide quality food and good value to its guests.
A market in a restaurant - a brilliant idea but nearly unknown in the restaurant world. Yet here our guests have shown us time and again that the Market has become an important component of our business and truly complements our Restaurant. Visitors can come by during lunch and purchase gourmet quality sandwiches and take out items from our deli and restaurant menus. It boasts a nice selection of rare beers, wines and spirits, along with great cheeses, charcuterie and prepared salads that are available for purchase during our normal operating hours.
It's been three years and Market in the Middle is stronger than ever! It has a loyal following of regulars along with a seemingly never-ending stream of soon to become regulars, all thanks to the efforts of our tireless staff. When you pass through our doors you are greeted with a warmth that is usually reserved for good friends. Always watchful to fill an empty glass or eager to accommodate a special request, these fine ladies and gentlemen always hold themselves to the highest standards of hospitality. About our Cuisine:
Global Fusion Cuisine only begins to describe the exciting and artful creations assembled by Chef Mark. He skillfully applies time-honored classical European technique to a host of flavorful ethnic ingredients to create his signature style. Dishes such as Bourbon BBQ Ribs, Chicken Garam Masala and Braised Pork Belly are recent examples of his culinary acumen. He changes his core menu offerings to reflect the seasons. Weekly Special menus are trend-setting in every respect, always providing a truly unique dining experience for our guests. Offering regional American foods intermingled with Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, European, Indian, Vegetarian, Chinese and Southeast Asian offerings there is always something to suit everyone's taste. Our delicious baked desserts are crafted in-house weekly also by Chef Mark.
In similar fashion, the Market offers take away lunch selections, boutique and organic wines, world-class cheeses, charcuterie and prepared salads, orchestrated by our Garde Manger Michelle.
